Almost Famous Review - Manchester GN

Saturday 13 December 2014

Thinking back I can't actually remember why or how i heard about Almost Famous, but when i did the first thing i did was Google it and look at the pictures. From that moment, i was sold!

I went to the one in the warehouse (Manchester GN), Lucha Libre is right near and i think there is bowling in that building too. Anyways, I have now been 3 times and I am ashamed to admit that i have had the same thing each time. (if i like something i find it hard to stray)

Here is the menu:

I had the Butter Blood and Bleu with Bacon Bacon Fries. And a Cherry Bomb Cocktail :)
£21 of goodness, just for me.

My fiance had the Triple Nom and Bacon Bacon Fries.

It's just completely delicious. It is a massive burger and i had to cut it in half to eat it and i also always remove most of the steak and eat it with the fries just so i can fit the burger in my mouth. The chips are my fave. They are just pure awesomeness. They have Baconnaise and bacon bits on them and they are fries and sweet potato fries mixed.

Service is quick and the longest we've had to wait was 40 mins and that was on a Saturday (i think) The first time we went was a Thursday night and there was just the two of us and we got a table straight away despite it being packed. The second time there was 4 of us and we waited 40 mins and the last time was a tuesday lunch and we got a table straight away as it had only been open half an hour.

I can't recommend it enough!!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...in our house.

Hi! It's been a while since i blogged. jeez louise!

I have really enjoyed setting up for Christmas this year. I think it's also less worrying on the bank balance this year because we already have everything. I set up the tree technically the day before i normally would BUT 1st December was a Monday. And the rule is to do it on a weekend. hehe.

I got this (above) from Bents Garden Centre, it's on my fireplace. I love it!!

This was our tree, just completed. Until this little bugger (below) broke my lights...so i had to buy more and add them to the tree, then i put them around my mirror/fire.

I personally think it's a lot better with twice as many lights on it. :) So it was a blessing in disguise.

So that's what it looks like as of today.

The Harry Potter Tag

So, i stole this from my sister, well the questions and the picture. Of course the answers are my own  :)

1. What is your favourite book?
This would be a toss up between Order of The Phoenix (ootp) , Prisoner of Askaban (poa) and Deathly Hallows (dh) I find it really hard to choose. I loved the introduction of Sirius and learning about the Maurauders, But i loved the drama and excitement of Ootp and well, DH is the end!!! It was amazing.
2. What is your favourite film?
Omg, exactly the same 3 as above. POA was amazing at the time. (i love hermione punching Draco) I always feel emotional watching Ootp ( sirius dies and omg i love the end when its dumbledore, voldy and harry at the ministry) and Deathly Hallows made me sob my heart out when Harry learned he needed to die and he said bye to Ron and Hermione!
3. What is your least favourite book?
Chamber of Secrets (cos) as the second book it doesn't really give anything away and it lost it's magic appeal that the first book had. Saying that it is essential to the plot and a must read. You really cant skip any books.
4. What is your least favourite film?
Chamber of secrets again. Acting was dubius and It's just not as appealing as the others.
5. What parts of the books/films made you cry?
Sirius dying, Dobby dying, Finding out Snape's love of Lily and him dying. Harry walking into the forest to die.
6. If you could hook up with any character who would it be?
um, I have no idea.
7. Who is your favourite character?
Hermione i think, I also like Lupin and Harry.
8. Who is your least favourite character?
Ron, I just cant bring myself to love him. I don't dislike him but i don't love him. I am a secret Hermione/Harry shipper (dont shoot me!)
9. What is your least favourite line?
Odd question, i dont have one i dont think.
10. What would your patronus be?
I'd like it to be a meerkat! Hehe, but it would be some sort of cat. Or maybe a bird!
11. If you could have the resurrection stone, invisibility cloak or elder wand which would you chose?
Definately the Cloak! I cant think of anything better.
12. Which house would you be in?
Gryffindor, only because i have done those sorting quizzes and it always puts me here! I'm not clever enough for Ravenclaw, or bad ass enough for Slytherin and i don't want to be a Hufflepuff.
13. If you could meet any member of the cast who would it be?
Gary oldman and Jason Isaacs <3
14. If you were on the Quidditch team which position would you play?
Seeker, i have good eyes!
15. Were you happy with the ending?
Yes, People were killed so JK wasnt too soft, and good always beats evil!
16. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
The World, it got me hooked on reading again (although ive always loved reading) and i live in my own little fantasy world anyway but it is just the best series and nothing has beaten it yet.

I tag YOU!

Going Blonde to Brunette!

It's hard work being blonde. Fact!

It's hard on the bank balance, the hair/scalp, and if you have my matchy matchy ocd it's hard to co-ordinate your clothing!

I decided to go back to brunette mostly because i was having problems getting a consistant blonde in my hair. It ended up being the perfect blonde on the ends but yellowy and orange at my roots and if i over-toned it, it would end up slightly  blue. NIGHTMARE.

I'll be honest i loved being blonde as i do think they have more fun, you get more glances and looks etc. But it wasn't worth loosing my hair for. Snapping hair is my biggest bug bear. My hair is so short and unhealthy now.

It's constantly changing different shades of brown/mahogany at the moment as i am using semi-perm dyes so as not to damage my hair further. the picture to the right was when i first did it and i popped in soem extensions, they dont match in real life though.

If your looking to go from Blonde to Brunette yourself just remember these rules:

  1. Put a red dye on first (if you skip this step you will get green hair!) I used Loreal Preference 6.66 Babylon.
  2. Then pick a nice chocolate brown, you want to avoid ashy browns (iced browns) as it will only encourage a dark green colour. I did this the day after i put the red on and used 5.3 Virginia (chestnut brown)
  3. Use leave in conditioners/serums. I have been using the Pantene Expert Keratin Repair serum (pictured), i usually put it on my hair (not my roots though) after I've towel dried it.
  4. I have been told not to straighten my hair. I ignore this but i should put it in.
  5. Try to leave at least 2 weeks before putting more dyes on.
Number 5 is hard, i mean after my initial dyes to get it to brown, it washed out so quick. To a light brown, which was actually a nice colour but obviously i was itching to get it to chocolate brown. I waited two weeks then put a semi permanent on. Which was yesterday and i chose Chocolate Brownie by Loreal Casting Creme Gloss. It lasts 26 washes. It oly coats the hair rather than penetrate it so hopefully it will not damage it. My skin tone looks so muc better with brown hair. The only thing is, i don't want to go too dark. Last time it was so so dark brown that i looked too pale.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hair Update: Being Blonde

Sunday 27 April 2014
So when i decided to go blonde in December i knew it would be hard and it has been pretty challenging. My hair is so weak and snaps so easily and as you can tell from the pictures its gone a lot shorter. BUT I am loving it I feel so different being Blonde. It doesn't change the way people treat you in my opinion. Well, not in a bad way. I always have a good experience being Blonde. It's just draining on the bank balance and the scalp.

(With extensions)

It was good being this blonde but everytime i had my roots done my hair seemed to get even more multicoloured and looked uneven and started to look yellow on the ends and white on the roots, not a good look! So i decided to get a box hair dye from Tesco and go a little darker blonde....and i hated it at first but now i like it and it seems more natural. Im going to let my roots grow and possibly do a sort of ombre.

Above: Before i dyed it. Looks horrid being so multi-tonal.

I used this dye on dry hair.

Looks nice right? Below: Is in a different light but same day.

Above: Today, without extensions in. Also day old hair so not as fluffy.

Also i'm loving my bareminerals tester!! My skin looks really clear!

Jeez bloggers

Monday 24 March 2014
Haha, i have seen so many *new* blog post's this week all saying the same thing....it's like Gimmie Brow all over again.

If you follow any UK bloggers you will notice they all seemed to review Benefit's Gimmie Brow about two weeks ago. Thats because Benefit sent it to them...and now over the past 2 days all i can see are 'road trips!' thanks to Citreon, lending them cars to drive. Gah!

So boring seeing the same things repeated.

I need some new blogs!

PaleJay got a bit of colour! - Loreal Feria Pastel Pink Hair Dye Review....

Saturday 11 January 2014

I have decided to do a review. I haven't really done one of these before so please bear with me :)

Recently I have gone back to blonde, i go through phases of tumblr'ing blonde hair and aching to get mine the same. It never happens but i give it a good try. Whilst on tumblr I came across a pastel pink haired girl n thought 'wow' that looks great!
It's also trending at the moment (Fearne Cotton!) which in a way i hate, because everyone thinks you've done it to be cool. Oh well.

With blonde hair i always look washed out, because i am so pale. I also have pink undertones in my skin so it clashes with the blonde so I think the pink will really work well with my skin tone.

I searched the net for some reviews from other bloggers and was determined to try Bleach London but when I went shopping today they didn't have it in Boots! Argh. So I picked up one bottle of L'Oreal Feria Pastel Toning Conditioner S01 Pastel Pink Panther.

There was only one bottle left so i had to just get that but i normally would have picked two up. Luckily one bottle was enough, in my opinion. I had medium length hair with isn't thick but also isnt very fine its kinda normal.

Here is a before picture:

As you can see its more of a yellow blonde than the recommended White blonde that you should have when applying this kind of dye, but I was already preparing myself for a peachy pink colour anyway.

I smothered the dye on my towel dried hair and left it for 25 mins (its recommended 5 mins for newly bleach hair or 15 mins for hair thats been bleach 2 week ago or more)

Here is how it turned out:

Looks different shades in different light, i wonder what the staying power will be!

What do you think?
Do you like odd colours for your hair?
