Maintaining Peachy/Rose Hair

Saturday, 30 December 2017

Ok so i'm not one to blow my own trumpet, at all; but i had rose gold hair before it became "the thing" - even my hair dresser agreed. She knows the deal, because when i'm on a mission to do my hair Rose Gold she never sees me (unless my roots are in desperate need) Sorry Suzanne! But i only trust myself to get the colour i want.

Here are a few from over the years...

So i've had this colour on and off for a couple of years and this weekend i decided to get back on the rosy train.

At the moment my hair is blonde (with a bit of roots), i regularly get my roots done (maybe every 6 weeks or so) and whilst at the hairdressers i usually have a Rose colour Joico toner which tones my hair to a nice cool baby pink (i hate yellowy blonde)

So thats the stage i'm at now. I saw this product by Pick & Mix in Superdrug and thought, why not give it a try!

However, i wasn't that impressed with it. It did put a peachy tone into my hair but it wasn't anything drastic and i feel it would wash out in 1 wash. So once i had towel dried it a bit i put a generous squirt of both of these Live pastel spray dyes onto my hair, (Pictured below) I added a lot more peach than pink as i wanted a more peach look. Once it dried i absolutely loved the colour and these are ideal to add after every wash to maintain a rose gold look.

To be fair the Pick&Mix dye i may possibly repurchase because a bottle would last me two goes and its a good all over colour. The sprays could get patchy if your not careful.

Also, if for any reason I cant get into the hairdressers I tend to use this Schwarzkopf LIVE Lightener & Twist in the colour "Rose".

It lightens as well as toning/colour with pink, so it turns my roots a nice peachy colour.

How do you do yours?

Any Questions??

Peace out xXx

Lush Caca Rouge - A Review

Sunday, 5 February 2017

I LOVE Ginger hair, like seriously love it! My pinterest 'Hair' album is full of ginger pictures, and so when I heard about Henna for hair being really natural and safe to use i thought i would research it a little more and eventually bought some from Lush :)

Now to be honest, at the moment I am mostly blonde/ginger, and i'm happy with this.

I had recently used ColourB4 to get back to my blonde hair/brown roots. I did about a week of it and decided it was just a bit too blonde, And so i put a Clairol Nice and Easy Natural Auburn dye on it to give it back its ginger tinge. However the ends didn't really take to it and are still very light.

I like it though. I think lighter hair compliments my skin tone.

This is before i put the Auburn on

So this brings my onto my next point...i'm not quite ready to go fully ginger, especially with Henna. It's hard to remove Henna, it's so permanent! Because Spring and Summer are approaching i think i will want to keep my light hair, so my aim is to go ginger next Autumn.

In prep, I decided to use my Henna to dye my hair extensions, plus i really didn't want to have to sell the Henna i had bought.

My extensions, are currently a mess, half ginger half pink! (Don't ask) I can't wait to get them ginger!!.

A Review Of Lush's Caca Rouge

The Henna came wrapped in a bit of cardboard paper, so i stored it in a tupperware until i was ready to use it. The day i decided to use it, i opened it up and was surprised to find it came with gloves! I don't know why i was surprised as it is hair dye, but i just didn't expect it. It also had instructions inside on how to prep and use it.

I decided to snap it in half, as i knew i wouldnt need it all, i probably split it 60/40 and used the 40. Then i got a knife and started shaving bits off it (see below)

Whilst i was doing that i boiled the kettle and poured some of that water into a perspex jug. As i chopped the henna i added it to the boiling water and stirred. I read a lot of reviews of people putting the perspex bowl over a pan of boiling water, i didnt feel the need to do this. It mixed very well. Maybe it is because it was chopped pretty fine.
Once it was all added and stirred it was a nice consistency, a bit like...hmm..a bit like a thick sauce.

I popped the gloves on and went to the sink to put it on the hair extensions.

And then the fun began!!

I just realised i didn't take a picture of them covered in the Henna, doh! I did make a timelapse though, thats on my instagram if you are interested.

I wrapped it in cling film and then in a towel and placed it in a warm room near the radiator :) I hear warmth helps it to develop.

I left it for about 5 hours because i went out. I think it usually takes 1-2 hours but you can leave it as long as you want.

Then I washed it off in the bath below, and it was really easy to be honest and my extensions didn't feel damaged. I have to say the smell of Henna isn't too pleasant, it stinks :)

Here's how it turned out...

In the picture above it is semi-dry, basically it was left overnight to dry. I haven't done anything else with it yet, I plan to dry it fully and then straighten.

Overall i really liked using the henna, i can imagine it'd be messy to do it on your own head but i definitely want to do it eventually.

I hope this helped a few of you, if anyone actually reads this. And i will be doing another review when i do it to my hair in Autumn 2017.

I want to go Brunette to Ginger!

Sunday, 27 March 2016

I was watching Youtube a few days ago, browsing tutorials etc and came across MsRosieBea and my god her hair is gorgeous!!

I couldn't stop looking at it. I've always loved that rich gingery red colour. I think it's beautiful. But if your not blessed with it naturally it's so hard to maintain. I want to give it a go though.

I have used Jerome Russell Bblonde Highlighting Kit to lighting the bottom half of my hair. I'm going to put a ginger dye on tomorrow. I don't know what it's going to turn out like.

I like these colours (on the left) Surprisingly i love the ginger tones more than the red.

Check out my "Hair" Pinterest collection:
HERE

I will update tomorrow...

So I decided to go to Tesco and buy this dye..

Vidal Sassoon- Intense red copper. I also go that one behind it just incase I didn't like how it turned out. But actually I was really happy with the outcome.the picture don't do it justice it's so bright and nice in real life. I love it.

Before: my hair was brunette. I had been using the casting crime gloss in Chocolate brownie.
Next I used the heroine Russell bblonde to highlight the ends and middle of my hair so that the ginger would stand out more:

And then the day after I applied the copper due by VS.

It looks great in real life. I think I will use this dye again when it's ready for a top up :)

UPDATE:

So after the first wash quite a lot of dye disappeared. I guess that's normal due to it being orange/red tones. But I left it for the week and by yesterday (Friday) it was like this...

Which is still a nice colour but obviously I wish it was more vibrant. When it's straight the two tone is a bit too obvious so I decided to put the other dye on this morning.. The loreal 6.45 in Brooklyn. I love how it turned out.

It really annoys me how it photographs because in real life it's so so good.

I'm sure it'll fade after the first wash but this hair dye kit comes with a tube for topping up the colour on the 3rd and 6th week! That's pretty cool. Maybe I'll update to let you know how that turns out.

Going Blonde to Brunette!

Sunday, 31 August 2014
It's hard work being blonde. Fact!

It's hard on the bank balance, the hair/scalp, and if you have my matchy matchy ocd it's hard to co-ordinate your clothing!

I decided to go back to brunette mostly because i was having problems getting a consistant blonde in my hair. It ended up being the perfect blonde on the ends but yellowy and orange at my roots and if i over-toned it, it would end up slightly  blue. NIGHTMARE.

I'll be honest i loved being blonde as i do think they have more fun, you get more glances and looks etc. But it wasn't worth loosing my hair for. Snapping hair is my biggest bug bear. My hair is so short and unhealthy now.

It's constantly changing different shades of brown/mahogany at the moment as i am using semi-perm dyes so as not to damage my hair further. the picture to the right was when i first did it and i popped in soem extensions, they dont match in real life though.

If your looking to go from Blonde to Brunette yourself just remember these rules:

  1. Put a red dye on first (if you skip this step you will get green hair!) I used Loreal Preference 6.66 Babylon.
  2. Then pick a nice chocolate brown, you want to avoid ashy browns (iced browns) as it will only encourage a dark green colour. I did this the day after i put the red on and used 5.3 Virginia (chestnut brown)
  3. Use leave in conditioners/serums. I have been using the Pantene Expert Keratin Repair serum (pictured), i usually put it on my hair (not my roots though) after I've towel dried it.
  4. I have been told not to straighten my hair. I ignore this but i should put it in.
  5. Try to leave at least 2 weeks before putting more dyes on.
Number 5 is hard, i mean after my initial dyes to get it to brown, it washed out so quick. To a light brown, which was actually a nice colour but obviously i was itching to get it to chocolate brown. I waited two weeks then put a semi permanent on. Which was yesterday and i chose Chocolate Brownie by Loreal Casting Creme Gloss. It lasts 26 washes. It oly coats the hair rather than penetrate it so hopefully it will not damage it. My skin tone looks so muc better with brown hair. The only thing is, i don't want to go too dark. Last time it was so so dark brown that i looked too pale.

Hope you find this helpful.

Hair Update: Being Blonde

Sunday, 27 April 2014
So when i decided to go blonde in December i knew it would be hard and it has been pretty challenging. My hair is so weak and snaps so easily and as you can tell from the pictures its gone a lot shorter. BUT I am loving it I feel so different being Blonde. It doesn't change the way people treat you in my opinion. Well, not in a bad way. I always have a good experience being Blonde. It's just draining on the bank balance and the scalp.

(With extensions)

It was good being this blonde but everytime i had my roots done my hair seemed to get even more multicoloured and looked uneven and started to look yellow on the ends and white on the roots, not a good look! So i decided to get a box hair dye from Tesco and go a little darker blonde....and i hated it at first but now i like it and it seems more natural. Im going to let my roots grow and possibly do a sort of ombre.

Above: Before i dyed it. Looks horrid being so multi-tonal.

I used this dye on dry hair.

Looks nice right? Below: Is in a different light but same day.

Above: Today, without extensions in. Also day old hair so not as fluffy.

Also i'm loving my bareminerals tester!! My skin looks really clear!

PaleJay got a bit of colour! - Loreal Feria Pastel Pink Hair Dye Review....

Saturday, 11 January 2014

I have decided to do a review. I haven't really done one of these before so please bear with me :)

Recently I have gone back to blonde, i go through phases of tumblr'ing blonde hair and aching to get mine the same. It never happens but i give it a good try. Whilst on tumblr I came across a pastel pink haired girl n thought 'wow' that looks great!
It's also trending at the moment (Fearne Cotton!) which in a way i hate, because everyone thinks you've done it to be cool. Oh well.

With blonde hair i always look washed out, because i am so pale. I also have pink undertones in my skin so it clashes with the blonde so I think the pink will really work well with my skin tone.

I searched the net for some reviews from other bloggers and was determined to try Bleach London but when I went shopping today they didn't have it in Boots! Argh. So I picked up one bottle of L'Oreal Feria Pastel Toning Conditioner S01 Pastel Pink Panther.

There was only one bottle left so i had to just get that but i normally would have picked two up. Luckily one bottle was enough, in my opinion. I had medium length hair with isn't thick but also isnt very fine its kinda normal.

Here is a before picture:

As you can see its more of a yellow blonde than the recommended White blonde that you should have when applying this kind of dye, but I was already preparing myself for a peachy pink colour anyway.

I smothered the dye on my towel dried hair and left it for 25 mins (its recommended 5 mins for newly bleach hair or 15 mins for hair thats been bleach 2 week ago or more)

Here is how it turned out:

Looks different shades in different light, i wonder what the staying power will be!

What do you think?
Do you like odd colours for your hair?

Going from Brunette to Blonde!

Wednesday, 11 December 2013

Hola hello hi there!

It's got to that point again where I am totally bored with my hair. I seem to get this itch to totally change it every so often! ...To be fair, I have stayed brunette (which is my natural colour) for quite a while now, around a year and a half!
Previously I have been burgundy, bright burgundy, reddish brown, dark dark brown, and well i was okay with it, and I really suit it obviously, but I need a change.

I have been blonde before, in fact I have been blonde twice. The first time my hair took to it very well and everything was going fine until I over toned it, it went grey. And this wasn't in the year that grey was cool :(
The second time it took so many visits to the hairdresser and it took forever that by the time I was blonde, I'd had enough, I kept it for 6 month (at the most) then went back dark.

Both times though I went really really light blonde, platinum blonde! It totally washes me out because i'm pale, so sometimes I looked awful. I'm really hoping to learn from this.

So, on Monday I bought some Halo clip in extensions in dark blonde, off eBay. They arrived today and I'm very happy with the colour. It's blonde,  but it's not too light.

Let's start from the beginning:

Here is a picture of what my hair looked like:

Pretty dark right? Sitting here now with ginger hair I wonder if I'm doing the right thing ahahah  but yeh, I had some great headkandy/dirtylooks hair extensions to match so I can still use them when I go back brown but still, I'm so bored of it.

I used Colourb4 to strip some brown hair dye out (I had to cover a few pesky greys about 2 month ago)

And I have had 2 appointments with my hairdresser. The first time she did two bleach washes on me, then the second she did a bleach wash then some foils...

Here are some pictures:

This was after my last appointment with the hairdresser, it was very multi-tonal so I decided to use Smart hair lightener on it to lighten the underneath and highlight throughout so it kinda matched....

At the moment it's very bright ginger, it will only need one more bleach then toner and then should hopefully match these:

As it doesn't right now: hahaha but I do think these will suit me!

I will update you once I have achieved it :)

30/12/2013 - UPDATE!

As you can see with this one, I have my extensions in but they still don't match, I still wore them as I was going out at might and it just looked like my hair was multi-tonal.

Most recents:

Still Peachy at the bottom!
